This is a very special month for me, yes, it's my birthday on the 19th and my dad's on the 11th, but it also happens to be the month of my most beloved friends' birthdays.

November 5 *yes, today* -- Iris --- In the words of... ; ) "There are friends, there are best friends and then there's Iris". Loyal like few, patient, always open to psychic-trauma transference. Scorpio *yay!* but not as tempestuous as me, I've always felt like you take care of me, I don't know why.

November 19 *yes, same as me* -- Ricky --- Oh my soul, how better to describe you? I think I won't, you'll hate me if I do it wrong. We've known each other for so long, years don't matter anymore, you've seen all sides of me.
You are fire, I know you know, all I'll say is I'll never forget the honey.

November 19 *yes, also* -- Vero --- V for Venom! *she calls herself that* You've taught me so much, it's always fun to be around you, I haven't seen you in a while but you know I care for you. Loud in good and bad times, you define the way to be extrovert.

November 23 *yes, Sagittarius* -- Dani --- The one and only! Gig-freak and best friend to death. Great company for countless hours under a blistering sun or pouring rain. Great taste in men ; ) music, books, and all. We've shared ideas, geeky theories, conspiracies, mindfreak moments and a lot more. I hope we'll be able to keep doing so for a long time.

To all four of you, my heart beats hard for you, maybe because of you, thanks for everything you've given me, I hope I've given something back. I love you all.

ROCKTOBER!

So many concerts! I'm seriously thinking about developing a star-chart to grade the gigs, I want to put categories like: Live Show, Interaction, Duration, and last but not least, Fans, oh yes, and maybe Injuries would be an interesting category.

October 7 -- My Chemical Romance : I'm Not OK because teenagers scare the living s**t out of me.
So, this wicked month started on a sunny Sunday. I remember how Dani and I found out about MCR in Mx, we were at another concert -Travis- and on the big screens they were announcing the coming concerts. Dani bought our tickets in presale so we were all set since August. I must say she's a bigger fan than I am :)
Then, the week before the concert we were counting the days when, on Wednesday a friend sent me a message about an autograph signing that would take place on Friday -sorry, Frarday-. I went all mad, called Dani and immediately decided we had to be there. Since she had to go to work, we agreed that we would meet there. I didn't have to go anywhere else, so I thought, OK, I'll be there at 10:00 and we'll see; unfortunately I had a couple of minor problems - an argument and traffic - and I arrived at 11:00 and I found a mob scene, I decided to stay in line until Dani arrived but when she did we saw that we had no hope and left. After that, we decided we'd better be really early on Sunday. We woke up at 5 am -yes, on Sunday- and arrived at the venue at 7:30... only to find 339 people before us. The line was mildly organized, thanks in part to parental units. Gosh, I felt so old there. We stood, or rather, sat under the blistering sun for nearly 10 hours, but when we finally got inside we were not so far behind. Of course the crowd started pushing, shoving and disobeying every direction given by Security long before the show started. Miraculously we were able to swim our way to the barrier, not at the front, at the side forming an aisle in the dance floor which allowed people to be pulled out, away from the angry mob if they couldn't stand it; we were really close to the stage, I could tell because 1) I could see the band's faces clearly and 2) I felt the heat from the flamethrowers on stage like I was right beside them.
Notes:
- Great show, Gerard is such a show-off!
- On the other hand, no Ferard, and I only saw Frank for like a second because he was kneeling on the opposite side of the stage.
- Horrible fans, the worst we've met yet I think, right behind AFI's.

October 19 -- Motorockr : Brandonfest.
Next in schedule was Motorockr fest, it was Friday and as such, a work day, which didn't allow us to show up at crazy hours but still, when we arrived, a bit past 3 it wasn't so crowded, in fact we managed to be -yet again- right behind the security fence (I'm sorry, I still haven't worked out its proper name). It was amazing, there were national rock bands and international bands. I particularly enjoyed The Bravery *omg they're soooo skinny* very cool guys, even when the sound failed. The Dandy Warhols were good too even though I really don't know them that much. And of course the reason we went: Incubus and The Killers. About Incubus I must say I totally loved them! They sang "Mexico" which was a very pleasant surprise. Brandon Boyd is a total rock-cuteness and he seemed so shy... I mean, for all his rockstar looks I would've thought him a complete extrovert -and maybe he is- but on stage he only managed to say "Thanx" and "Gracias" in a very shy way. The Killers... Oh! I can't compare this gig with the last one cuz it was much shorter but we were closer to the stage this time and Brandon Flowers -who is in fact a very charismatic extrovert- had everyone wrapped around his finger.
The national bands weren't bad either, the highlight being Molotov (yay!) and I won't comment on the others cuz I don't want to offend anyone.
Notes:
- Exasperating fans, whining and complaining about everything, I'd so like to see them at a real gig.
- That day, 30 Seconds To Mars was signing autographs at a mall... but we were stuck with a band we hate.

October 21 -- The Cure.
This was our time to feel young! Ha ha. Great show like only a classic band could put up. Dani and I were at the topmost row but we had big screens and besides, I feel like this particular show was more about hearing than watching *of course, teh fans who paid like a kidney to be at teh very front will spit on me* I enjoyed it very much, it lasted nearly 3 hours and all 3 shows - Sat, Sun & Mon - were different. Robert Smith barely moves ha ha but he more than makes up for that with his amazing voice.  Vintage fandom.

October 26 -- 30 Seconds To Mars : Perfection exists, his name is Jared.
The total effing awesomeness. I think this was the gig I was most eagerly looking forward to but I never imagined I would be right at the front facing teh gorgeous Jared. Since I've now fallen into slavery (paid slavery) I knew Dani and me wouldn't be able to arrive early to get decent places by the "security" fence so I wasn't as excited as I should've been, but then, something great, something awesome, something grand happened. Teh Dani's boyfriend and one of his friends went in teh wee hours of Friday morning to get us a good place in teh line WHICH IS ABOUT THE MOST WONDERFUL THING EVER, so thanks to their sacrifice we were at teh very front of teh line in teh midst of teh fan club and when the doors opened and we got inside we were shocked that we were right in the middle! Of course, the fans behind us were pushing really hard and behaving like animals but we didn't move, nothing short of a nuclear catastrophe could have moved us. The opening act sucked -Lebaron again- and then it was time... We got a glimpse of Jared before he actually entered the stage and when he did and stood right in front of us I nearly fainted. He is so skinny! And so beautiful! And he sprayed us with water from a bottle he had emptied on himself *chokes*. They played the songs of their second album. I wished the show had gone on for a bit longer but it definitely rocked and Jared did say that they were coming back soon. Of course my arms were bruised but not that badly.

October 27 -- Manifest : snow hands.
To give Rocktober the perfect closing, Manifest was another festival. This time I had something else to do *dance* so Dani got to the venue before we -me and another friend- did. To be honest I was only interested in the last band that would play -Interpol- and maybe one other -The Horrors- but my friends did want to watch the other bands. When we arrived at the place (some sort of park) it was effing freezing! And I caught myself thinking "omg what will happen when the sun really sets?" The answer was we were frozen to our bones. It is funny how we usually hate the crowd at a concert and this time all we wanted to do was to be in the middle of the crowd to see if that would warm us a bit. Interpol did. They are freaking awesome on stage, they played all the songs I like and did so magnificently. The only minus being that a stupid girl behind us was singing every song -and note- in a horrible screechy voice. But that was actually funny later.

And that is it and Rocktober is officially over.

Thanks to teh awesomeness that is teh Dani for sharing this with me.
Thanks to her boyfriend and his friend for queuing for us -well, for her-
Thanks again to Rodrigo -Dani's b/f- for giving me a ride home after the shows.

I don't feel like dancing...

fairyme

Anymore, that's totally true, at least on stage, this Saturday's show was shameful, wrong lights, wrong music *thank God for the live musicians we had* the lights went out at some point, and the organization? Nonexistent. Leaving aside how I danced - how we all danced - the mistakes, the outfits, how traumatized I am because let's face it, I don't look they way I'd like to, leaving all that aside, I don't feel this show was as good as the others had been. I felt dismal when it ended, I also heard a lot of people that were angry about the tickets and I totally understand them, why sell more tickets than there are seats? People come to watch the show, they pay and they have to sit on the floor? Not fair.
Maybe I'll never be a great dancer, because things like these don't let me enjoy my dance and of course everyone can tell, I can't work on my facial expression because I just don't like to smile, sometimes I concentrate too much and try very hard to keep focused and I know that's not the point. I'd like to, no, I'd love to be a good dancer one day but today it seems near impossible.
I won't say more, I will post pics but not just now, I don't think I can stand looking at them right now. Mh, I do wonder what my teacher will say to us on Friday.

All October gigs will be reviewed in a single post, at the end of the month.

Really really really late entry!
On September 16 teh Dani and I went to... yes! another concert. It was Kaiser Chiefs and it was teh total and utmost awesomeness, so weird, the difference of fans was amazing, I mean, teh Dani and me have been in all kinds of gigs, from really violent ones where you almost beg for it to end to sweet, calm ones where everyone sings. But KC was so different! For starters, it was Sunday and we had agreed that this time we wouldn't arrive hours before to be in front, we just wanted to be there and enjoy, so we met early in the afternoon and went smoochin' cuz we hadn't seen each other for a while, then around 6 we made our way to the venue, and what did we find? The "line" of waiting fans was shorter than AFI's had been at 8 am! And these fans weren't rude at all, when we got inside the place, we were at the very front and managed to stay there because the people around us were not pushing, everyone was just enjoying themselves which is the whole point of a concert.
About the band... Oh my god, I can't believe... such amazing energy! Rick, the frontman, was injured, he actually entered the stage with crotches, which he then threw away and started jumping all over the place, literally. Ha ha, I do have to say that his clothes were not the highlight of the night. They played really well and there was a cool interaction with the crowd. Five stars.
About the opening act... Well, not everything could be perfect, I'd like to know how they choose the bands for the opening acts, this one was bad, the frontman could use some confidence lessons, i think the guitarist needs serious therapy and the bassist wasn't even a bassist, she just played a single note over and over and over again, I mean come on! Are you serious about your musical ambitions? Then effing show it!

So, I love music right? So, I completely go crazy when one of my fave groups -and not so fave sometimes- comes to this city right? The past couple of weeks were rockin' awesome, me and teh awesomeness that is teh Dani, oh no, sorry, teh total nastiness that is teh Dani *yeah, way better* went to three concerts!!
---Thursday, July 26: Light up---
The enlighteningly depressing Snow Patrol played to break our hearts. The venue (Teatro Metropolitan) was great for this band, small enough yet allowing enough room for everyone. They were supposed to come earlier on the year, March something I think, but due to unknown causes -or at least unknown to me- they decided to postpone the gig. For this show we got seats right at the back of the theater but it didn't matter because like I said the place is not that big and besides we had binoculars. Sadly, teh Dani was not feeling her best but I'm glad she could come anyways. Oh, they played my fave songs: Chocolate, Run, Chasing Cars, Make This Go On Forever and many more. The highlight: No afro this time, ha ha. Good show.
---Thursday, August 2: Sing---
A week after Snow Patrol, it was time to see Travis. This time teh Dani's boyfriend came with us cause he luvs Jumbo -the opening act- and it was ironic that he got a better seat than ours! x_x but we had great seats too. Jumbo is a great band and should officially be the opening act for every cool band I like (never mind that they forgot the lyrics to "Rockstar" it could happen to anyone). Travis played for two and a half hours! So awesome, maybe they thought they were supposed to play every song they know, or maybe they wanted to make up for three years of absence or maybe they played so many songs cause they're not planning to come again soon... Anyways, they played every song I like, interesting covers and it ended so late that we couldn't catch the last train home *ho* we had to take a cab that was 2 seconds away from falling apart but we enjoyed even that.
---Tuesday, August 7: So pretty, oh so petey---
Fall Out Boy in teh house! Gosh, I'd  known for ages that they'd come but really didn't have a clear idea of going, until... about three weeks ago I became obsessed *me?* with Pete Wentz *heh* and teh Dani being the coolness that she is told me she would invite me to that show. We had great seats and got to see a lot of everyone cause the guys never stop jumping all over the stage. Pete was the only member of the band that addressed the crowd and I thought he was superb. The ultra highlight being the moment he dived into the crowd, got very far and then in no time at all was back on the stage... taking his shirt off and throwing it... *faints*. Something worth mentioning: there were lots of parental units! Due to the fact that there were tons of 12 to 14-year-olds... Ah, I felt a bit old. FOB -specially Pete- are such a charismatic band, they have great energy onstage, they're a really awesome "live" experience. So, thnks fr th mmrs Dani!

FunFacts:
- This time we had seats for the three shows, we didn't buy floor tickets because, since Dani works we're not able to be at the venues hours before to win the front row of pushing people. But seats have their advantages, for one, we can be there only minutes before the gigs start and we don't have to push and fight for our lives so we can wander around the souvenirs' stands.
- There were invitees in all three gigs, Snow Patrol introduced a guitarist, Travis introduced us to Klaus *or whatever* and FOB's techs jumped on stage to add some spice *like it was needed*
- All of them tried to speak Spanish *haha, I shouldn't laugh I probably sound worse trying to speak English* and did a fairly decent attempt at it. They managed "Hola", "Gracias" and even some rude words.
- Cover boys: Oh yesh! Travis played "Hit Me Baby One More Time"!!! And FOB brought to mind P!ATD playing a bit of "I Write Sins Not Tragedies"
- The opening acts: Snow Patrol didn't have one, Travis' was Jumbo and it was the best by far, and FOB's opening act were... *gosh, I won't even mention them* well, there were too bands but... let's just say I don't like them.

And the concert agenda for this year is not over! Actually is far from over. I thought that it would be really difficult to keep going to gigs but, you know, where there's a will there's a motherf***ing way!

Master of Death

fairyme
I finished reading Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows today, it is so sadly beautiful but completely satisfying. I'm not telling anything about the plot though, that's for each person to chose when *if at all* they want to know about it.
I must say that I was thoroughly surprised by the way events unfurled themselves, some things I knew or suspected, having read the previous six books at least three times and yet so many things come as a real surprise.
It is amazing how every detail fits in, how nothing is said or done in vain, each little thing has its right place.
In all, it is a story of love and self-sacrifice, like so many, like the best there are.
So many things reflected, echoing from so many tales told, so many stories written before:  the Hallows - the Holy Grail, the sacrifice of the hero, fate vs freedom of choice and free will and how death is not the last fortress.
I must say that some of my friends think I'm a little stupid for liking these stories, for waiting obsessively for book after book... All I know is that those books remind me of the child I was *even though it's not a children's fairy tale! but don't get me started on the subject of fairy tales*
I still think there are some things that were left unexplained (like someone's parents) but maybe that was intended too, after sticking with Harry right til the end I know all the important things, everything that mattered and I am not disappointed.
As a fan, I can't help but wish there were more books, maybe not of this story, this saga is finished, but maybe a side-one would be nice *looks dreamily and pleadingly* Who knows? Maybe one day I'll read familiar names again.

At World's End... and beyond

Living in a big city sometimes can be maddeningly unhelpful. Specially when you realize that things you like are not near your house. Luckily I have crazy iO as a friend so nothing is too much when it comes to really crazy ideas. The most recent of these ideas took place yesterday. It all started with our frenzy for Harry Potter and our imperious need to watch the movie in an IMAX theater. We had already decided to go to a mall at the far-south edge of the city but the tickets were sold out. No prob, we said, we'll wait 'til next week. How naive of us. Next week tickets were sold out too, but not everywhere. Upon looking we found out that there was an IMAX theater that wasn't completely sold out, the catch being that it was in an unreachable place, but like I said, when we want to go somewhere few things can stop us and something as mundane as distance is not one of those things.
So, I surfed the net to find the easiest ways of getting there and back again and was satisfied to find that there's a direct bus. No worries, right?
After dance class I met iO on the subway and from there we took a bus that would take us near the mall. I shall explain here that the mall we were looking for is a mini tiny teensy plaza right behind a huge mall called Centro Santa Fe. We arrived at the big mall alright, so far so good. Finding the mini mall was not so smooth though, because we had never been there before and therefore we didn't know exactly where we ought to walk, after asking for directions and taking another bus we arrived at destination with a few hours to spare.
Now, this mini mall doesn't have a proper food court, only a few restaurants but we can't complain cause what we ate was delicious, not to mention drinks *wink*. After eating we still had to wait a while before the movie but we managed not to die of boredom and, with 15 minutes to go to the movie we bought popcorn *but not before realizing we were in the wrong queue and having to get in another line* and we found our seats when the lights were still on.
The movie was amazing, some parts of it were in 3-D and the best part was that there were no kids.
When the movie ended it was nearly 10 o'clock and we started to worry a bit about finding the right bus. We walked all the way back to the big mall and started looking for the bus which wasn't easy because it was very dark. When we realized we couldn't risk to wait much more to find the bus we decided to get on one that would take us to a subway station. But when the bus arrived it was so crowded we couldn't get in and had to wait for the next one. I must admit I was a bit nervous at this point that there wouldn't be another bus but after several minutes another one came and we started the journey back from the Underworld. I arrived at home near midnight, and when I was safely in bed I thought: "Can't wait to do this again, humongous fun".

I missed out on -yet- another job. I feel so beneath low... I suppose there's something wrong with me, or maybe it just is that other people do realize that I don't have what it takes to be a scientist -cause I'm so emotional and irrational and the things going on in my head have nothing to do with science- that could still be OK but the problem is that I don't much feel like I have what it takes to be anything else either.
The only good thing is that teh awesomeness that is teh Dani got the job and she's fab. I'm probably going to live off her ha ha

fighting my demons

Sometimes I feel I carry a heavy burden, me. Now, when I feel like that I often undergo a metamorphosis and change into an intolerant and sociopath psycho and since no one can stand me like that -not more than I can stand anyone- I begin tearing and biting at myself. I ache by my own wanting I suppose because actually no one I know can put me down anymore. And I just have to ask myself, "Do I like to suffer?" I don't think so, gosh, for one thing I'm not nearly that pathological but maybe it is that I do not love myself as much as I should. It has always occurred to me that it is sort of funny how others see me, I have always liked to see the effect I have on people and how they relate to me, (which can vary greatly from the utmost loathing to communion of ideas). But also, I have always feared that I tend to bring the worst out of most people that know me and that is why sometimes I shut myself up in my own prison; because I hurt.
Am I underestimating myself? I feel so talentless and useless. I think I'm a fair judge of myself most of the time though, who knows...
This was just a reflection of a side of me, but actually, that side is one of my most productive ones, my inquiring side, my make-it-as-difficult-as-you-can side, my endless wondering side; and right now that side has a project, so as dark as it is it has an enthusiasm... for knowledge. Alight the darkness then shall I.
